Reading Room/7 — Art Gallery

William Anthony’s drawings have been commissioned for Artforum, The Paris Review, Parnassus, and by Andy Warhol for his magazine Interviews. His work is represented in the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art and many other museums. He is the author of War is Swell and Bill Anthony’s Greatest Hits.

David Newman lives and works in San Francisco. The chief subjects for his roving eye are the grand and forbidding city landscape of San Francisco and some of the hard-pressed, overlooked people who struggle in it. In his way, he is a successor to the legacy of Saul Steinberg, and another artist he honors in his canvasses is Philip Guston.

Lorraine Shemesh’s solo exhibitions have been presented at the Butler Institute of American Art, in Ohio, the Stone Gallery, New York City, the Alpha Gallery, Boston, and at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work is in many public collections, including the Museum of the City of New York, the National Academy Museum, New York City, and the Staempfli Gallery, New York City.
